AIFORS

ERA Chair in Artificial Intelligence for Robotics

AIFORS is a Horizon 2020 ERA Chair project which aims to create an ERA Chair in Artificial Intelligence for Robotics at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (UNIZG-FER). It will enable UNIZG-FER to attract an outstanding researcher and five team members to independently implement an ambitious research strategy in AI for robotics. This will open UNIZG-FER to a new research direction with a high potential for research outputs and technology innovation. The ERA Chair holder will establish and lead a Research Group for Artificial Intelligence for Robotics assigned to the Laboratory for Autonomous Systems and Mobile Robotics (LAMOR).

The AIFORS Workshop on European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers and Gender Analysis in Research was organized by the AIFORS Lab and LAMOR and took place on Thursday 04, 2024 at UNIZG-FER.

The workshop was divided into two training courses. In the morning session, the speakers talked about compliance with the European Charter of Researchers and its role in fostering the creation of a fully functional, globally competitive, just, and inclusive European Research Area, and of the principles and requirements of the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers:

  • Fabio Bonsignorio: Building a fully functional European Research Area – The cornerstone of the Renaissance 2.0, from Europe
  • Miroslav Rajter: Development of university academic potential using HRS4R
  • Nada Čikeš: Strategic multilateral development of HR excellence in research - the case of Alliance4Life

The afternoon session's topic was sex or gender analysis in research and the assessment of the current situation,

it was focused on discussing how to make further progress on gender equality and inclusion issues in research, globally, in the ERA, and in particular at the University of Zagreb and FER. The speakers came from UNI-RI and UNI-ZG:

  • Brigita Miloš: Gender Analysis in Scientific Research
  • Ksenija Klasnić: Overcoming the Gender Gap: Insights and Actions in Research and Academia
  • Anamari Nakić: Diversity and inclusion plan of UNIZG-FER for the period 2024-2028

Panel Discussions held at the end of each session, which also involved Ivana Podnar Žarko, Ana Sović Kržić and Mirna Gržanić Antić as the panelists, created opportunities for speakers of varied backgrounds and viewpoints to present the multiple perspectives on the subjects and to provoke interaction with the audience.
